XPart offers course on K-series engine
Today, 09:51

MG and Rover parts distributor XPart is offering its Autoservice centre network a chance to improve their knowledge of K-series engine repairs.

The Desford, Leicestershire company are putting on a one day course at the Nanjing Automobile Corporations MG UK training centre at Longbridge.

Technicians will learn about the diagnostics, repair and service of all aspects of the K-series petrol engine and cooling system, reports the Birmingham Post.

Xpart service marketing manager Don Lindsay said: "The course is particularly useful for those technicians who are new to the network and may not have a background in MG Rover repairs.

Lindsay added: "By completing the training, they will be able to diagnose faults associated with the K-series engine and cooling systems and carry out repairs. They will also learn the correct procedure for dismantling and reassembling the engine, together with best practice for servicing, engine rebuild and installation.”

XPart staff to get special K-Series training

Jan 5 2009 by John Cranage, Birmingham Post
MG and Rover parts distributor XPart is offering its AutoService centre network the opportunity to improve its knowledge of K-series engine repairs.
The Desford, Leicestershire, company said staff at the network were gaining valuable knowledge of K-series engine repairs by attending a new training course.
The one-day K-series engine and cooling system service course, held at the Nanjing Automobile Corporation’s MG UK training centre at Longbridge, provides technicians with the expertise to diagnose, repair and service all aspects of the K-series four-cylinder petrol engine and cooling systems.
“The specialist K-series training will help our technicians to become experts in K-series engine repair,” said Don Lindsay, service marketing manager at XPart.
“The course is particularly useful for those technicians who are new to the network and may not have a background in MG Rover repairs.
“By completing the training, they will be able to diagnose faults associated with the K-series engine and cooling systems and carry out repairs. They will also learn the correct procedure for dismantling and reassembling the engine, together with best practice for servicing, engine rebuild and installation.”
The K-series engine, which is found across a wide range of MG Rover cars together with other vehicles such as the Lotus Elise and Land Rover Freelander, is a powerful and lightweight road-going engine.
More than three million have been built since its launch in 1989, while a two-litre version has powered entries in the British Touring Car championships since 2002.
Patrick Warner, managing director of MG Rover specialist Sterling Automotive, said: “Attending the K-series training course has not only developed our technicians’ technical knowledge but has also improved their efficiency in dealing with K-series engine faults.
“The course tutors provided invaluable product knowledge which is helping us to save our customers money and inspire them with confidence in our business.”
XPart is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Caterpillar Logistics Services UK, one of the automotive industry’s leading supply chain management companies.
It operates more than 250 XPart AutoService centres across the UK, providing franchise-quality repair at aftermarket rates and its product range contains more than 35,000 parts for all makes of vehicle
Since 2001, it has been responsible for the supply of genuine MG and Rover parts and has recently signed an agreement with NAC MG UK to supply replacement parts for the new Longbridge-built MG TF.

My god, Don Lindsay is still there? Blimey, that's a blast from the past! I used to nod off during his 'bits' at the regional service meetings!
