Lots of new pic inside Rover Factory

Does everyone know that on 28 days later some of the guys have got inside Longbridge in the last couple of weeks.

Many new pics some very sad of demolition work in progress but other stuff showing production lines still ready to restart. Some NAC information too.

It's also sad to see test work half complete. I guess some of the staff stopped work probably expecting to pick things up again a week or so, after a deal was worked out to save Rover.

Seems to be several reports, all worth a look if like me, you never had the chance to go around the place.

The silver TF, at first look I thought it was the hybrid MIRA car but I seem to recall the slats in the bumper were sealed as the radiator air flow was directed up and out through the vent in the bonnet, but what about the extended wheel arches and bumper, was this something planned pre factory closure or a sport and racing project ?

The factory tour, didn't take you anywhere near the paint plant, or anything that those pictures displayed, sadly I guess it is because of the need to keep everything clean and dust free.

It used to start with the Body in White facility making the bodyshells, before going back across the road to the main site, showing the end part of production.

Yea, what is that big hole in the bonnet all about? It looks like a production car, or a very well executed prototype. Could be a hybrid.

And all those bodys shells! Hundreds of them... Now are they going to be scrapped, or used again? NAC don't want them in China, or they would be gone by now. And they are held in a warm dry atmosphere, not dumped outside somewhere to rot...

The place is a lot more compact now so they could show you a lot more in the available time. Charge say 10-15 quid a pop with 20pax and two tours each day and they could have a nice little side earner, especially if they use assembly staff on a rotating shift for the guides. My local brewery does tours like this (not that I've done one yet).

As far as I could tell they were all 75/ZT in saloon and tourer, 25/ZRs and TFs. Maybe I didn't look hard enough but there appeared to be no 45/ZS anywhere. If NAC aren't updating metalwork then these cars are all ready for small scale final assembly as 07MY cars, with whatever new plastic and lights they decide to put on them.

Any UK spec 2007 ZTs or ZRs could be then made quite easily from pre-existing stock. A good way to restart those models and slwoly ramp things up I think.

Not only that, but I reckon NAC could do what the (at the time) newly named Bentley Motors Limited did back in 2002 when running down Rolls Royce production, labelling them as the last "true" Rolls-Royces (which i personally agree with, after seeing the Phantom) NAC could produce these last models as the MG ZT/TF Final Edition, noting them as the last of the old models, and then introducing the suceeding models to the market on the end of the Final Editions

You are all assuming that Nanjing are unhappy about people exploring Longbridge. Maybe they see it as a good PR exercise to show that not everything got lifted and shifted to China
