OLD Top Gear / Motorfair '89 (Rover 200 launch)

Apologies if this has been found before, but this site has complete episodes of OLD Top Gear. This one is the Motorfair '89 episode, when Rover launched the 214 and 216 models.

For other episodes, just put in Top Gear 1990 or any other year (I got some up for 1986 too).

Ooh, struck gold there, you know her of old or recent...? There's loads more complete episodes, can just about remember William Woollard on late 80's Top Gear with his infamous "drive safely" phrase ending show.... Whatever happened to him?

I miss old Top Gear, especially Quentin Willson at the auctions, though suppose Fifth Gear caters that angle....

I never bothered to watch it until JC turned up. It was sooooo boring like a visual Autocar, well meaning and pulling every punch. I don't think these programmes did the Brit car industry any good as they always lied about the faults until nobody believed a word they said.

I know Woollard lost his shirt at Lloyds when there was that problem when the 'names' had to stump up fortunes to cover loses. I suspect he's long retired.

William Woollard is in his 70's now, but Chris Goffey is still in the industry, but writing these days.

I really enjoyed watching that, don't get me wrong I like the current Top Gear and have probably seen each episode several times thanks to Dave, however the constant mucking about and obviously staged antics do get a bit samey after a while. POWER

Nice to see a show with cars the average man on the street can afford and would therefore possibly appreciate the information and test drives all the more ?

PS. If I was after car advice I'd pick Chris Goffey over Clarkson any day of the week.

Well Chris Goffey, William Wollard are still alive and well.

Sadly Frank Page suffered a stroke a few years ago and has been learning to speak, walk etc all over again.

Wow - it's all changed since then for Top Gear hasn't it? Back then, they actually checked the car over and gave it a test drive before slagging it off, which Top Gear these days does all the time.

It has the brand new ROVER 75 from the Geneva Motor Show '99.
